Company History

John Carpenter and John Robbins form the firm with the intent of providing tenant representation services to local business and government entities in the Tri-Valley area of San Francisco, California.

Award of the first General Services Administration (GSA) contract for the San Francisco area and the development of a two-pronged business approach - Private Sector & Public Sector.

Concentration on Private Sector Execution - Expand GSA & Public Sector Statewide.

Awarded Broker of the Year by the East Bay Business Times - Private and Public strategies blend for regional recognition.

Named #21 of Fastest Growing Companies in San Francisco Bay Area by San Francisco Business Times.

Re-establish Private Sector focus on mid-sized firms in SF Bay Area - Recruit & Train for Private Sector build-up - GSA awards C/R two years of projects within 24 hours.

Repositioning private sector companies ahead of the real estate crash. Develop "Rent Estimating Tool™" for GSA.  Recipient of SIOR-National Largest Office Transaction of the Year (Dollar Volume) award and SIOR-Northern California Chapter Largest Office Lease award. C/R in 9 states.

Conducted National Relocation study for Department of Veterans Affairs. Developed C/R real estate consulting and due diligence division. Named #15 of Fastest Growing Companies in San Francisco Bay Area by San Francisco Business Times. C/R in 12 states.

Awarded multi-year National Contract for Department of Veterans Affairs. Expand GSA contracts in West. Execute major multi-year representation sub-contracts with CBRE and Studley, Inc. Recipient of SIOR-Northern California Chapter Largest Office Lease Award. C/R in 18 states.

C/R becomes a government-focused real estate company. C/R in 20 states.

Government business slows to a trickle due to national scandal. C/R increases private sector HQ relocation services. C/R in 21 states.

Carpenter/Robbins develops new approach to service delivery for GSA and crosses the 7,500,000 square foot mark of successfully negotiated Federal leases. Recipient of SIOR-Northern California Chapter Largest Office Lease award.

C/R launches Cities and Counties in California and VA VISNs nationwide and wins a competition to represent VA VISN 16 Municipal Services Division [Southeast] C/R in 25 states.

Three competitive National Prime Federal, five-year contracts awarded to C/R. C/R expands its prime contractor status for GSA in 18 Western States, and renews its position as National prime contractor for VA for two different National Brokerage Contracts.  C/R also a subcontractor for GSA in 13 southern states. C/R providing services in 34 states across the U.S.

Carpenter/Robbins continues to build municipal consulting and representation projects within California. C/R executed multiple project assignments for a variety of entities under this program. C/R awarded two "Prime Contracts" to represent Department of Veteran Affairs nationally.
